Ms. at its finest.

At first when I read about the Ms. magazine scandal, I rolled my eyes. I rolled my eyes because I believed this to be another anti-Israel forward that my mother received and decided to spread. I rolled my eyes because I believed it was overly dramatized by people looking for controversy.  I rolled my eyes due to utter lack of interest in a situation I believed to be fruitless.  I did not roll my eyes because this is another one of the repeated attacks against Israel through the media. I did not roll my eyes because I was frustrated by the constant occurrence of Anti-Israel incidents throughout the world. And I most certainly did not roll my eyes because I found the explanation to be the biggest load of BS EVER!
After researching the incident I rolled my eyes, this time for the right reasons.  When I read MS. magazines defense for not publishing an ad that said, “This is Israel” I could not help but laugh. Katherine Spillar, the executive editor of Ms. magazine claims that, “In Ms. magazine’s judgment, the ad submitted by AJCongress for consideration was inconsistent with this policy.  Not only could the ad be seen as favoring certain political parties within Israel over other parties, but also with its slogan “This is Israel,” the ad implied that women in Israel hold equal positions of power with men.  Israel, like every other country, has far to go to reach equality for women.” The policy that she is referring to, has to do with Ms. magazine not accepting ads from political parties or non-partisan organizations. I challenge Ms. To show me the political agenda in the ad featuring three women politicians stating, “This is Israel”. Let it be noted that these women, are in fact, left wing. The claim that Israel has a long way to go for rights for women, is also ridiculous! Israel is not perfect, and does need work, but take a look at the countries around it! Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq and Iran all countries where women have limited to no rights at all!
All this aside, I believe this to be a stupid excuse that doesn’t make any sense. It is a ludicrous attempt to cover up yet another offensive anti-Israel incident.
