Adam's Vibe November 2007

JVibe decided it was time to provide you with some hot and current news on our past cover girls/guys, as well as the stars we feature in our Pop Life interviews. Since JVibe gets the first scoop on young stars like our Jan/Feb cover guy Joe Trohman from Fall Out Boy and March/April's Sara Paxton, we want to keep you updated on their success! Then, when they become as huge as past cover-celebs like Natalie Portman and Zach Braff (don't worry, we've got them covered, too), you can say you saw it back in the day when JVibe got the story. In this corner of our Pop Culture section, Adam will always be here with Adam's Vibe on the Jews you love most. (And if you've missed seeing them in print, subscribe now to JVibe magazine.)

Samantha Harris (Journeys, May/June 2007) gave birth on September 23 to a baby girl, her first with husband Michael Hess. The baby’s name is Josselyn Sydney Hess. Harris has already returned to her duties as co-host of the hit ABC show, Dancing with the Stars.

Miri Ben-Ari (Pride, March/April 2007), our favorite hip-hop violinist, has been featured in a promo for Pepsi (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ga1hcbGDxU4), on Sesame Street (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f0UWkpj20fw), in a new music video featuring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jfz1hJZPsxM) and in another music video to promote awareness and education about the Holocaust for her nonprofit organization, “Gednik” (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SVYanQ5r6rw). Miri’s personal website is www.miribenari.com.

Boston Red Sox first-baseman Kevin Youkilis (Take Action, September/October 2005) has created the Kevin Youkilis Hits for Kids nonprofit charitable organization to raise support and awareness for community-based children’s charities and medical research organizations. Money raised for the organization will support several charities, including Christopher’s Haven, a home for kids fighting cancer; the Italian Home for Children, which provides services for neglected and emotionally disturbed children; and Joslin Diabetes Center’s Pediatric Health Services.

Zach Braff (Take Action, September/October 2005) was recently honored as the Harvard Lampoon’s Man of the Year at a recent ceremony at the university in Cambridge, Mass. The Lampoon is an undergraduate humor organization and publication founded in 1876 at Harvard, and is the world’s longest-running humor magazine still in publication. Braff also announced on his website (www.zachbraff.com) that this will be the sixth and final season of his show, Scrubs, on NBC.

Natalie Portman’s (Love/Sex, June/July 2005) newest movie, Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium, is set to be released in theaters on November 16. Portman plays Molly Mahoney, an awkward and insecure manager of Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium, the “strangest, most fantastic, most wonderful toy store in the world.” But when Mr. Magorium (played by Dustin Hoffman), the 243-year-old eccentric who owns the store, bequeaths the store to her, a dark and ominous change begins to take over the once-remarkable Emporium. The movie also co-stars Jason Bateman. Check out the official movie trailer and website at www.magorium.com and read an exclusive interview with Portman in the Dec/Jan issue of BabagaNewz magazine.
