Ralph Lauren, Marc Jacobs and Betsey Johnson are three of the top American fashion designers for teenage apparel. But not every style is the same when it comes to global fashion. Tel Aviv, Israel, is known as the hub for Israeli fashion and fosters hundreds of new styles and unique looks for all ages. Among some of the most widely known Israeli fashion companies and chains are Fox, Castro, Honigman and Renuar. Each offers a distinct look for every personality.

Are you the type of person who favors high fashion at affordable prices? Fox has a down-to-earth look that resembles beachwear designers like Roxy, Billabong and Quicksilver. Full of tan board shorts and sheer bathing-suit cover-ups, Fox has something for both men and women. Like the Gap, Fox carries clothing for kids and babies too. Since 1942, Fox has opened about 225 stores internationally and 185 stores in Israel alone.

“City-Love-Style” is the slogan for another high-fashion clothing brand known as Castro. Founded by Greek Jew Aaron Castro in the 1950s, the style is very similar to the sexy and sleek clothes at Urban Outfitters and Charlotte Russe. Since 2005, DIVA, Castro’s sister store, has sold accessories at stores across Israel. Because DIVA was so successful, Castro evolved as DIVA’s apparel store. The chain has since expanded to Germany, the Netherlands, Romania, Russia, Thailand, Switzerland, the Ukraine and Kazakhstan. But no matter which country Castro is located in, its main goal is to stay “trendy, youthful and inexpensive.”

Floral print dresses and brightly colored high heels are only a few of the items that describe the popular women’s brand Honigman. As one of the largest female clothing stores in Tel Aviv, Honigman has been offering trendy and youthful clothing since 1947. Other stores that are related to the brand are TNT, the teen brand, and Honigman Kids, the children’s brand. Currently, Honigman has opened more than 150 stores across Israel.

Imaginative and colorful is an understatement when talking about the style at Renuar. Their intricate and animated website explains the style in a nutshell: original and creative. Renuar’s brightly colored dresses and sleek jackets are geared toward both young-adult men and women. Founded in 1993, Renuar became a major women’s brand and in 2003 turned into a men’s clothing line as well. There are now more than 90 Renuar stores in Israel alone.

Fox, Castro, Honigman and Renuar all provide different styles for every teenager. Next time you’re in Israel, be sure to check them out and pick up a few unique pieces of your own. One thing’s for certain when it comes to fashion design in Israel—the clothes don’t disappoint.
